MEET THE TEAM
Mark R. Jackson, MD
Dr. Jackson graduated from the University of Richmond with a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry. He then graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and then completed a residency in General Surgery at the Brooke Army Medical Center. From there Dr. Jackson completed fellowship training in Vascular Surgery at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and then served an additional four years as a vascular surgeon at Walter Reed while also having assignments at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
Dr. Jackson was honorably discharged from the United States Army Medical Corps at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and then joined the faculty at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas where he was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor of Surgery and started their program for endovascular stent graft treatment of aortic aneurysms. During a 12 year career in academic surgery, Dr. Jackson published over 70 scientific articles and medical research papers, presented original research at regional and national meetings, and participated in numerous academic committees and societies.
Dr. Jackson then moved to Greenville in 2003 where he has practiced vascular surgery, started the vascular surgery program at St. Francis Hospital which in 2015 was recognized as a HealthGrades Top 50 Hospital in Vascular Surgery. Dr. Jackson has now started a new, independent medical practice with Dr. Julie Park specializing in the treatment of venous disorders such as varicose veins of the legs.
Outside of medicine Dr. Jackson enjoys motorsports, home brewing beer, and serves as a volunteer supporting and directing local American Legion baseball.
